UEFA Europa League
With the conclusion of the 2011/12 Europa League season, Atletico Madrid defeated Athletic Bilbao with a 3-0 final score in Bucharest. It started early with Radamel Falcao’s strike that broke the goose eggs, and escalated quickly as Falcao striked just before the half and victory was solidified as Diego scored with five minutes remaining. With the victory, Falcao has emerged as a elite striker, scoring 29 goals in 29 Europa League matches, much to the delight of Europe's elite football clubs. |
Serie A
With a victory on May 6th over Cagliari, 2-0, Juventus solidified themselves as the 2011-2012 Serie A champions winning there 28th Scedutto. This is Juventus' first legitimate Scedutto since 2003, after the 2006 Calciopoli where they were stripped of there 2005 and 2006 titles. For many Juventus fans, this is a long time coming and perhaps this begins a changing of the guard in the Serie A. |
